Mills Spends 15 Billion On Campaign – CAMG

Press Statement

Mills Spends 15 Billion On Presidential Primary Campaign ?

The Change Atta Mills Movement(CAMG) is calling on President Mills to explain the justification on spending 15 BILLION Ghana cedis on his internal campaign to be the Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress, according to an income and expenditure paper sighted by us at his party’s headquarters. We are desperately disappointed at this lack of restraint and unnecessary spending by the President and his allies at a time workers salaries are at an all time low, the country is facing serious challenges regarding youth employment, road projects completion and gas shortages. We are also seeing a rise in moral decadence and breakdown as extreme poverty is forcing some of our youth to engage in unnatural sexual experiments and acts for money. This state of affairs can be redeemed if the Presidency listens to concerned party members directs and financial investment and logistical resources to confront the problem. Crisscrossing the country in 4x4s and rushing to please party delegates with inducements is in stark contrast to the promises the President told us when we campaigned for him.

We would like to remind the President that food security, jobs, regular power supply, affordable housing and good pay for Ghanaians must be a priority for our party and our people the people. The President must realise that time is fast spent on the delivering of promises to our people and we humbly appeal to him and his government to commit resources to solving Ghana’s problems . We call on the President to a. tell Ghanaians how much he has spent on his campaign for re-election b. Why in the Western Region and Northern Region for example,4 billion in total was shared to regional party executives without constituency party members given any?

c. Why Barbara Asamoah, a member of your presidential campaign is currently building a 6 bedroom house at North Legon with monies given to her by you, Mr President.

We believe he has failed and he should give way to somebody else to rescue the party from defeat in 2012 and restore confidence to disillusioned and disappointed members.
