Mills says Ghana needs peace to develop

Prampram, Sept 18, GNA – Prof John Atta Mills, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said Ghana needed peace to push forward its development agenda and nothing should be done to throw the nation into chaos. He said the relative peace Ghana had enjoyed over the years needed not to be toyed with or disturbed and that it was the collective responsibility of Ghanaians to ensure peace and stability at all times.

Prof Mills said this at Prampram on Friday when he toured the various constituencies of the NDC to interact with the people. His visit to the Ningo-Prampram constituency took him to Mataheko, Ablekuma, Ochebretu and Mobole. The rest were Zugbanyate, Dawheya Prampram and Guguornya. His wife, Naadu, accompanied him as well as Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Member of Parliament for the area, Alhaji Farouk Brimah, National Propaganda Secretary and Alhaji Ismail Bawa, Regional Vice Chairman of the NDC.

Prof Mills told the people to return the NDC to power in December to enable the party to implement laudable programmes contained in its Manifesto. He expressed concern about the economic hardships facing many a Ghanaian since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took office. Prof Mills said the ”Positive Change” the NPP promised Ghanaians had not reflected in their lives since most of them wallowed in abject poverty.

”The NPP government has woefully failed to fulfil its campaign promises to the good people of Ghana since majority of Ghanaians experience more misery, greater poverty and mass unemployment.” He, therefore, urged the electorate not to renew NPP’s mandate but to remove it from office through the ballot box. ”When the NDC is given the mandate the party shall govern this nation in the fear of the Lord, in truth and with a high sense of humility, dedication and commitment.” “NDC has good intentions for Ghanaians, and will continue with its good works if brought into power,” he said. Mr Mensah and Alhaji Brimah urged Ghanaians to replace the NPP with the NDC in December.
