Mills reiterates govt’s commitment to Voltarians

The President, John Evans Atta Mills, has reiterated government’s commitment to developing the Volta region as Anlos mark Hogbetsotso festival.

The annual event is being marked for the first time in 13 years following the installation of a new Awomefia Togbi Sri III, after the peaceful resolution of a protracted chieftaincy dispute following the death of the Awomefia in 1998.

President Mills noted that there can be no development without peace and promised the people of the Volta region that his government will deliver on its promise to develop the region.

“Anlo cannot develop if there is no peace. Sometimes I ask myself what are we fighting over? We should be fighting over ways of improving the lots of the people of Anlo. What is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong.”
