‘Mills Government Is Worse’

Jacob Osei Yeboah, an independent presidential candidate, has launched a scathing attack on the Mills administration, describing it as the worst government in the history of the country.

According to him, Ghanaians were suffering under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government because of the adoption of gargantuan corrupt practices.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Osei Yeboah said, “What is happening in Ghana now is even worse as compared to what took place in the military era, which necessitated the 1979 uprising, gargantuan corruption has become the order of the day,” he said.

Mr. Osei Yeboah said, “I am sure most ministers in President Mills’ government today would have faced the firing squad but unfortunately we are practicing democracy and people have taken advantage of it.”

He further noted that “Democracy is a war of ideas with weapons of rule of law, so if the rule of law fails then it means that democracy is no more and there wouldn’t be any victory for the path of democracy that all of us are embarking on.”

This, Mr. Osei Yeboah said, was because people engage in politics to steal from the country’s coffers and amass wealth for themselves without any questioning, adding “If that is all politics is about then we have a long way to go as a nation.”

He alleged that government officials were stealing the taxpayer’s money, claiming those engaged in the act were the so-called ‘honourables’ in parliament.

Commenting on the judgment debt saga, Mr. Osei Yeboah said, “If you look at these judgment debts saga, one could see that a section of people really sat down and realized that it was one of the avenues through which they could fully put their hands in the nation’s coffers without people noticing it.”

“As it is now, Ghana is sitting on a time bomb and if care is not taken, the country will be destroyed by these selfish and hypocritical politicians.”

Mr. Osei Yeboah applauded Kennedy Agyapong for boldly unveiling the payment of huge sums of money to Alfred Agbesi Woyome as well as other judgment debts.**
