Mills donates food items to prisons inmates and cured lepers

Ho, May 8, GNA – Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister on behalf of President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday presented assorted food items to two institutions in Ho.

They are the Central Prisons and the Polyclinic, formerly a Leprosarium, for cured Lepers living in seven settlements nearby. The items were bought from a donation made by President Mills and offertory at a thanksgiving service organized in his honour when he visited the Volta Region recently.

The service was organized by the Christian Community in Ho in association with the traditional authorities. Mr Al-hassan Legibo, Volta Regional Commander of Prisons, received the items on behalf of the prisoners while Mr Anthony Adjavon, Regional Leprosy control officer, received them for the cured lepers. Seth Kodzo Azaglo Nyatefe, a prison inmate, expressed appreciation for the donation and appealed to government to provide the prison with employable skills to enable them fend for themselves. 8
