Mills committed to campaign promises – Agyenim-Boateng

Accra, July 12, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills would continue to be alive to the electoral promises of government, Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim-Boateng, gave the assurance when addressing the Nkoranza South District Assembly. A statement issued in Accra on Monday said present were the Paramount Chief and elders of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Heads of Departments and staff.

Mr Agyenim-Boateng, who is on a tour of some districts in Brong Ahafo Region, said within the 16 months of implementing the Better Ghana agenda, remarkable successes had been chalked. These include provision of free school uniforms and free exercise books, 50 per cent increase in capitation grant, expansion in the delivery of potable water and massive construction of school buildings and dormitories in Senior High Schools across the country. Another success is the prudent management of the economy and its attendant drop in inflation from the over 20 per cent inherited to the current 11.66 per cent.

Mr Agyenim-Boateng is on a week-long tour to explain government’s policies, programmes and gather feedback. He said President Mills’ commitment to the fight against corruption, his humility, trust-worthiness, his God-fearing character were values that every Ghanaian ought to be proud of. President Mills would continue to place education, agriculture, healthcare and infrastructural development high on the Better Ghana agenda, he added.

Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom IV, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, commended President Mills for the innovative ways of promoting education in the country.

He said President Mills had rolled out commendable initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in the country.
