Military celebrates Open Day

Sunyani (B/A), March 7, GNA – Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, on Tuesday advised the military not to allow politicians to use them for any political gains but rather to continue to work harder to help promote and maintain peace in the country. He emphasized that the growth and development of every country depended on the ability of security agencies, particularly the military and the police to maintain peace and order.

Nana Seinti gave the advice at the open day ceremony when the Three Garrison opened the gates of the Liberation Barracks in Sunyani to the general public as part of Ghana’s independence anniversary celebration. He commended the military personnel for their hard and dedicated services towards the growth of the country’s infant democracy and advised school children to see military personnel as role models in discipline.

Lieutenant Colonel Abu Alhassan, Commanding Officer of the Garrison explained that the open day was instituted to brief the general public about the activities of the military to enhance its relationship with the general public.

Military personnel are partners in nation building and not political saboteurs, he said and expressed the hope that the relationship between the military and the public would be strengthened to accelerate national development.

The Garrison Commander had earlier led the Regional Minister and his Deputy, Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah and some school children on a tour of some important places at the garrison to get acquainted with the daily activities of the military. March 07 06
