Princess Ann came and went, and so did President Clinton. And now its the turn of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson to take his turn.

Tyson will be part of the American entourage who will be visiting Ghana to mark Emancipation day which is schedule to take place in Accra from 25 July through to 2 August 1998.

A large number prominent African-American personalities and celebrities will be bringing down the remains of slave ancestors buried in the U.S. and the Caribbean to Ghana for re-internment.

It is under the theme: Emancipation: Our heritage, Our Strength”.

The re-internment will be done at Cape Coast while a host of activities such as beach parties, slave garment fashion shows, re-enactment of the slave march, among others will be held in Elmina.

About 34 Ghanaian companies, including Ghana Review International, have made pledges to support the event which is expected to honour slave ancestors as well as build bridges between Africa and others of African descent living all over the world.
