MiDA invests GHc 23 million in community service projects

Tamale, May 13, GNA – The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), has invested GHc 23 million in Community Service Projects (CSP) in 30 districts in the country, under the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA). The projects include the provision of educational infrastructure, potable water and rural electrification. Mr. Samuel K. Kuma-Botchway, CSP Manager of MiDA, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ workshop on the Tamale Water Expansion Project, in Tamale on Thursday.

He said the water project sought to provide potable water to more that 50,000 in the Tamale Metropolis, Savelugu/Naton and the Tolon/Kumbungu districts adding that it would help in the eradication of guineaworm. Mr. Kuma-Botchway said the project had reached draft detail design stage and MiDA would listen to views of stakeholders on the project that would begin in September this year. He said GHc 23 million had already been spent on the project and consultancy started last year. Alhaji Harunah Friday, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, commended MiDA for its intervention to improve upon the living conditions of the people. 13 May 10
