Mfantseman health service providers trained in Health Insurance

Saltpond (C/R), Dec. 7, GNA – The management of the Mfantseman District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme has organised a training workshop for health service providers in the District to equip them with knowledge and skills to manage the Scheme efficiently. They were taken through conflict and risk management, claims administration and benefit packages.

Mr Samuel Sosi, Acting District Director of the Ghana Health Service called for mutual understanding between service providers and clients of the scheme to avoid unnecessary confrontations. He appealed to the service providers to be courteous in handling clients.

Mr Godfred Gyebi Arthur, the Scheme Manager said claims for clients who did not received treatment at the nearest health facility would be rejected.

Mr Arthur explained that only emergency and referral cases could be handled at health facilities, which were far away from the clients. Dr Abraham Martey, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Saltpond District Hospital called for an intensive public education to make clients to know what would be expected of them when they visited health facilities for treatment.
