Akufo-Addo Orders Primaries
In 45 New Constituencies &

Credible information reaching The Informer indicates that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Mr. Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered the election committee of his party to hold Parliamentary primaries in the 45 newly-created constituencies around the country.
Sources close to the NPP flagbearer inform this paper that their leader (Akufo Addo) has realized that the continuous opposition of the NPP to the creation of the new constituencies will affect the party negatively in the forthcoming general elections.
Nana Addo explains to a close associate that information reaching him indicates that the governing National Democratic Party (NDC) has started using the party’s opposition to the creation of the new seats as a weapon against the NPP.
This paper’s sources hinted that the NPP Chairman Mr. Jake Otanka Obetesbi-Lamptey, was very happy that Akufo-Addo has finally taken that stand. The claim by the NPP that they will not have enough time to hold primaries has been exposed by the peaceful manner in which the party held primaries in 4 constituencies over the weekend.
Three (3) of the 4 constituencies were where independent MPs (NPP activists) won in the 2008 parliamentary elections. They are Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region and 2 in the Ashanti Region (Bekwai and Bosome Fraho).
The 4th constituency was in Bawku Central, where the Deputy Managing Director of Metro TV, Haruna Alhassan won the primaries to replace the jailed incumbent Mr. Adamu Daramani Sakande, who was also the party’s candidate for 2012.
For Haruna Alhassan, it is a climb-down in politics after having failed in his bid to become Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate; he has last political card in the Bawku Central seat.
Ghanaians will now understand why Talal Fatal’s Metro TV has been for the past 2years screening promos for its Good morning Ghana Show, a segment which featured Ursula Owusu, who insults the late President John Atta Mills.
The promo was withdrawn 2 days after the death of President Mills. Haruna is the Deputy Managing Director of Metro TV.
