Metro Mass holds strategic meeting

Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT) is to increase its revenue by 15 per cent by the end of the year.

A statement issued in Accra at the weekend said the decision was arrived at a just ended three–day Strategic Planning Meeting in Kumasi.

The statement quoted Mr Noble John Appiah, Managing Director of MMT as saying the decision is to bring back en route a number of broken down buses, which are part of MMT’s total fleet of 1,048, and which are currently awaiting repairs on the heels of the arrival of two containers of spare parts at the ports.

Mr Appiah called for more research, scheduling of buses and effective planning especially when MMT has a commendable work culture and a sense of belonging, which would enable the company to live up to expectation.

He announced the establishment of an Operational Desk and the revival of the company’s website.

Mr Appiah asked the depot managers to pull their weight behind the new top management to achieve its vision.

Mr Antwi Gyamfi, Board Chairman, observed that personnel of the company are not doing well enough, explaining that shortage of spare parts and red-tapism are simply unacceptable.

Professor Stephen Adei, Moderator at the workshop, spoke of the tremendous operational opportunities of MMT and called for more effective customer service.

The company will soon unveil a five – year strategic plan, the statement said.
