Sekondi, July 25, GNA – Mr. Philip K. Nkrumah, Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive, has commended the Town and Country Planning Department (TCPD) for its educational programmes to sensitise the public and communities on the need to adopt proper physical planning practices. He said the programmes would go a long way in ensuring that developers conformed to building regulations. Mr. Nkrumah was speaking at a durbar for Regional and District Town and Country Planning Officers in Sekondi on Thursday, at the end of a three-day tour of the Western Region by Mr. Edward Karbo, Director of the Department. Mr. Karbo called on Metropolitan and District Assemblies to cooperate with staff of the Department to ensure planned settlements. “A planned settlement would ensure the proper use of land and avoid haphazard building in waterways and unapproved sites,” he added.
