Metro Bus runs over man in Sunyani

Sunyani (B/A), Sept. 29, GNA- A metro bus run over a labourer at Sunyani Municipal Assembly on Wednesday while he was on his way to work.

Mr Siedu Atakora, 40, sustained serious injuries and he is on admission at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

Chief Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Fordjor Nimo, in charge of the Sunyani Municipal Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the victim who was riding a bicycle was knocked down by the door of a taxi that had stopped for a passenger to get down. The taxi driver is at large.

“The metro bus, which had reached the scene and couldn’t help, run over him and the bicycle”, he explained.

The police officer said the driver of the bus had been arrested pending investigations.

Mr Atakora, who is married with two children, is on admission at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani.
