Teachers within the Methodist Educational institutions in Dormaa Ahenkro, located in the Bono Region, have established the Methodist Teachers Association (MTA). This initiative aims to unify their objectives and pursue shared agendas to foster the advancement of teaching and learning within Methodist educational facilities.
Addressing journalists at the Association’s inauguration ceremony, Very Rev. Nicholas Afrifa, the Superintendent Minister of the Wesley Methodist Church in Dormaa Ahenkro, emphasized the significance of forming the association. He highlighted its role in presenting a unified agenda to pertinent authorities and stakeholders to secure support when necessary. Rev. Afrifa recalled that the Methodist Church pioneered the introduction of schools in Ghana prior to governmental intervention. However, they occasionally encounter challenges in obtaining essential support and collaboration from the government. Therefore, the establishment of the association is anticipated to significantly empower them to collectively advocate for the progress of the church’s educational institutions.
Rev. Father Kingsley Dwamena Asante, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Education, elucidated the CCC concept, which embodies the principles of Consult, Co-Operate, and Collaborate emphasizing that these three pillars are fundamental in fostering uniformity and elevating the quality of education among mission schools, their stakeholders, and the government.
He expressed that the Association would significantly benefit Methodist schools, their educators, the students, the Church, and society as a whole stressing that the Church’s influence will aid in cultivating responsible adults for a brighter future through the way of worship and various church activities.
Mr. Boadi Samuel, a teacher and the newly elected Chairman of the Methodist Teachers Association, proclaimed that the Association will cultivate unity among its member teachers, thereby ensuring collaborative efforts to address the needs of both the school and the teachers. He implored all members of the association to demonstrate dedication and diligence to ensure the association fulfills the objectives for which it was established.
