The Methodist Men’s Fellowship in the Teshie North Society on Saturday organised an end of year party, and made a donation of Ghc2,000 to the Teshie Orphanage home to treat inmates to a wonderful Christmas celebration.
The party and donation were to support the increasing number of deprived children in order for them not to feel abandoned by society.
The items donated included bags of rice, cooking oil, soft drinks, toiletries, detergents, biscuits, boxes of bottled water, Indomie noodles, tomato paste, drinking caps, carton of Ideal milk and a cash donation of Ghc1,000 to help in running the orphanage.
Mr Samuel Manu Quartey, President of the Men’s Fellowship said the purpose of the donation was to show care to the needy and less privileged as contained in the Bible.
Mr Quartey said showing support to orphans is religious, righteous and full of God’s blessing, hence the initiative by the Fellowship.
He urged other churches to follow suit in making sure that the lives of the children were well taken care of and well protected.
Mrs. Janet Anyeley Parker, Founder of the Orphanage, expressed appreciation to the Methodist Men’s Fellowship for the party and the donation, adding that such donations make them realize that society is appreciating their work.
Mrs. Parker said the gesture was timely since they depend on such donations for the day-to-day running of the orphanage.
She again thanked the Fellowship and other organisations that have also made donations to the orphanage for being there to show their support for the survival of the inmates.
