Methodist Church to continue providing social amenities

Kwakuanya (B/A), Oct. 22, GNA – Right Reverend James Baffour-Awuah, Methodist Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, has said the church would continue to blend evangelism with the provision of social amenities. He said the Methodist Church would join hands with the government and non-governmental organisations in providing quality education, health care, counselling and alternative livelihood systems to enhance the peoples’ living standards and fine-tune them for effective evangelisation.

The Bishop said this when he presented items worth GHC 1,850 to the Kwakuanya Methodist Clinic at Kwakuanya near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa municipality.

The items included a refrigerator, a generator and two wheel chairs.

Rt. Rev. Baffour-Awuah appealed to traditional and opinion leaders to support staff of the clinic to make them work hard. He said the church was doing all it could to motivate the staff and appealed to the people to embrace the health insurance concept. Mr. Atta Amponsah, Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, commended religious bodies in general and the Methodist Church in particular for prioritizing health and education.

Madam Florence Iddrisah, Municipal Director of Health Services, said the items had come at an opportune time to support the on-going fight against childhood killer diseases.

The Odikro of Kwakuanya, Nana Kojo Fordjour, thanked the Methodist Church and appealed to his people to support all development projects. He appealed to the municipal assembly to help the community in its bid to draw electricity from Nkrankwanta.
