Methodist Church donates to Psychiatric hospital

Accra, Aug 21, GNA – The UK branch Women Fellowship of the Ghana Methodist Church on Wednesday presented items worth 3000 GHC to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to help maintain patients there. The items which were presented at a short ceremony in Accra included bags of rice, gallons of disinfectants, soaps, toiletries and gallons of cooking oil.

Mrs Suzana Hagan-Anobil, President of the Fellowship said the presentation formed part of the fellowship’s project of reaching out to the needy and neglected in the society. She said this years presentation was second in the series and it was embarked upon following the fellowship’s visit to the hospital two years ago, which revealed that patients were neglected by the general society.

Receiving the items, Mrs Ethel Lartey, Deputy Director of Nursing at the Hospital commended the fellowship for the initiative. She said the items would go a long way to compliment efforts at maintaining the 1060 patients currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

She appealed to societies and organisations to emulate the gesture of the Methodist Women Fellowship UK branch to donate to the hospital.
