Membership of parliamentary committees reviewed

Accra, May 18, GNA – Parliament on Wednesday adopted the Third Report of the Committee of Selection, which spells out the composition of members for the various committees of the House.

Following the appointment of some Chairmen of Committees as Ministers and Deputy Ministers the Committee of Selection decided to review the membership of the various committees in line with the convention of the House.

The committee also held discussions on the Poverty Reduction Strategy Document and accordingly decided to appoint a Special Committee on poverty reduction as was done in the previous Parliament. Mr Eugene Atta Agyepong with Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu, Ranking Member.

In all, there are 15 Standing Committees and 16 Select Committees and every Member of Parliament is expected to belong to at least one of the committees.
