Members of AFAG call for repeal of law on causing fear and panic

Accra, July 24, GNA – Members of Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) on Friday called for a repeal of the law on causing fear and panic because it infringed on the freedom of the Ghanaian.

They noted that pluralism of the media was good, and support the call for responsible journalism; however, they appealed to government to distant itself from the continuous embarrassment by the Police.

In a statement issued in Accra, AFAG called on individuals and institutions to seek infringement on their rights by the media through the appropriate channel the National Media Commission which had oversight responsibility over the media.

“We are worried by the threat under which the Ghanaian media is working and the systematic manner in which the freedom of the media is been curtailed,” it added.
