Kumasi, Jan. 6, GNA – A youth leader has appealed to members of political parties not only to take interest in being members but also to critically study the manifestoes of the parties they belong to. Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, immediate past president of Youth in Action, a coalition of youth groups in Kumasi, said this would help them comprehend the policies and principles of those parties and be in better positions to educate the electorate on visions of their parties. Odeneho Appiah gave the advice when he addressed an end-of-year get-together of members of the Kwadaso Christian Youth Fellowship in Kumasi.
He said apart from studying the manifestoes it was also prudent to have an insight into the manifestoes of other political parties to enable “you make comparisons and move your party forward.” Odeneho Appiah said the youth were in the majority in political parties so they should be tolerant and desist from the use of indecent language on political opponents.
He said “as future leaders, you have to start nurturing the virtues of tolerance and decency in your utterances even in the face of provocation so as to enable you effectively manage affairs of the country when you one day assume leadership roles.”
Pastor Richard Marfo, patron, said the fellowship was not just concerned about instilling in members Christian values but also educating their neighbourhoods about national issues like the HIV/AIDS and environmental cleanliness.
