Medical team in Ghana to offer free medical care

Accra, Aug 21, GNA – A team of nine medical personnel from the United States of America has arrived in the country to offer free medical care involving complicated brain and spine, and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. The team would be expected to share their experiences with local doctors and transfer information on latest surgical techniques to their Ghanaian counterparts.

The group include four Neurosurgeons, and one each of ENT surgeon, Internal Medicine Specialist, Anaesthesiologist, a Nurse Director of Neurosurgical Operations and a Medical Photographer.

A statement issued and signed in Accra on Saturday by Osofo Muhammad Bin Ishaque, Public Relations Officer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, said the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Mission was hosting the medical team under its health project.

It said medical supplies worth about five thousand dollars have been brought in by the team to be supplied to the Teaching Hospital and other hospitals in the Country.

The statement said the medical team has provided similar services in the country on two occasions.
