Medical check-up is different from Medical treatment- Doctor

A medical practitioner, Dr. Hadi Abdallah has advocated that every individual, no matter the age or status should go for a medical checkup at least once every year.

He says medical check- up’s are precautionary measures to ensure that diseases that are afflicting with an individual is detected and treated early.

Speaking to Goldnews, Dr. Abdallah explained that check up’s in medical parlance is totally different from medical treatment. He said, medical check up is a series of test and is quite extensive in that it includes scrutinizing the person to find out if the person could be habouring some unseen diseases.

His comments come in the wake of the confusion that has ensued with President Mills’s departure to the United States for a routine medical check -up.

Some Ghanaians are confused whether the president is in the States for a medical check- up or a medical treatment.

But Dr. Abdallah say the two cannot be same. He pointed out, ‘’health conscious people do that every year where the various systems are checked and also this is related to the age of the person’’.

‘’There are certain disease which are prevalent at a certain age, example prostate cancer, you expect that when a person turns 45 years, there are certain conditions which tends to affect a particular age so you add that to the check-ups, so the check up actually increases with age’’.

‘’Medical check-up in a nutshell is to find out whether the person is healthy or not. The person might not so any signs of any disease but you do it as a precautionary measure every year to make sure you are well’’.
