Media urged to be passionate about country’s progress

Ho, April 02, GNA- Mr Andrew Awuni, Presidential Press Secretary on Tuesday charged journalists in the country to be ” partial in favour of development and growth” of the country and educate the public accordingly.

He said, “you have the responsibility to direct the people and the country in the right way and cannot pretend to be impartial observers of the country’s developmental progress”.

Mr Awuni said this at a Press soiree in Ho. The interaction sought to apprise the media on the performance of the government in the various sectors of the economy. Mr Awuni said the good performance of the government has catapulted Ghana into international limelight and bolstered worldwide confidence in the country’s future.

He said there are incontrovertible pieces of evidence about the giant strides made by the country in the past seven years, which the media should let the public know.

” Time and chance has placed responsibility on journalists to provide leadership for the country and this you must do with critical look at issues and go beyond pedestrian talks”, Mr Awuni said. Giving a power point presentation on the progress of the nation in the areas of energy, education and the economy, the Press Secretary said government is in absolute control of its responsibilities and that the energy crisis is behind the country once and for all. He said the country’s progress in the last seven years has been phenomenal, which facts the media must tell the citizenry without mincing words.
