Media practitioners asked to operate within professional standards

Takoradi, Nov. 3 GNA – Mr. Affail Monney, Vice President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has appealed to journalists and other media workers in the Western Region, to continually operate within the professional standards. He said any deviation from the accepted standards could result in chaos and make the media lose its respect and pride in the society. Mr. Money, who was interacting with media personnel at Takoradi on Friday, urged journalists to uphold truth, accuracy and honesty in the discharge of their duties. He also appealed to journalists to give equal opportunity to politicians seeking power in Election 2008. Mr Money advised journalists to detach themselves from political parties in the performance of their duties. He cautioned journalists not declare the winner of the Election 2008 and asked them to exact election results. Mr Money said “Propaganda does not promote peace neither can it solve the problems of the country. Let us ensure that results are accepted by all”.
