Media and traditional rulers workshop ends in Takoradi

A two-day Media-Traditional Rulers Interface workshop, organized by the Participatory Development Associates has ended at Takoradi.

Some 42 media personnel, traditional authorities and representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations attended the workshop.

Nana Bonya Kofi VI, Divisional Chief of Basake in the Ellembele District, said all Chiefs and Queenmothers properly nominated, selected and installed should be gazetted.

He said the gazetting is to ensure that their names are included in the register of Chiefs and Queenmothers to enable them to perform their duties without any hindrance.

Nana Kofi advised Chiefs and Queenmothers to see their paramount Chiefs about it so that they could gain the necessary recognition.

He said appointments such Adontenhene and Nifahene are the perrogative of the Omanhene and that Odikros and Caretakers are not Chiefs but are appointed to oversee particular areas especially when the stools of those areas are vacant.**
