Mechanical Lloyd Donates to Women’s Ministry

The Mechanical Lloyd Company Limited, a motor company in Accra yesterday donated a Ford Ranger 4 x 4 Double Cabin Pick-Up to the Ministry for Women and Children’s Affairs. The car is valued at C150 million.

The donation was done at the offices of the Ministry to help them execute their work in the rural and deprived areas.

Making the presentation, Mr. Terence R. Darko, Managing Director of the company said that the company had empathy with the Ministry for Women and Children’s Affairs. The gesture, he said, was to ease the difficulties the Ministry faces in disseminating information to the rural communities.

He said the acquisition of the vehicle would make it possible for women in the rural areas to benefit from programmes initiated by the Ministry.

Mr. Darko disclosed that recently the company was awarded the franchise to produce Ford in addition to its brands of BMW, Land Rover and Massey Fergusen.

The sector Minister Mrs. Gladys Asmah expressed her gratitude to the company. She said the car would help the Ministry to investigate issues concerning women and children in rural communities.

The Minister made reference to a case of alleged slavery involving children in fishing at Yeji which expose them to the danger of being trapped by nets.
