Mechanic remanded for stealing

Cape Coast June 14, GNA- Joseph Kofi Atta, a mechanic, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody, by a circuit court in Cape Coast for allegedly stealing a motorbike valued at 70 million cedis.

Atta who pleaded not guilty would reappear on Wednesday June 22. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on June 5 this year, the Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director of the Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Department detected that the main door of the office garage has been destroyed.

A team of police personnel that inspected the premises noticed that one of the five motorbikes belonging to the Ghana Water Company Limited had been stolen. Inspector Azasoo said, earlier in the day the police had received information that somebody was tampering with a motorbike at Elmina. He said the police moved to the place and arrested Atta with the bike.
