Mechanic gets 20 years for defilement

Tarkwa, (W/R) April 4, GNA- A Tarkwa circuit court on Monday sentenced a 45-year old mechanic, Cletus Baab Dogbe (alias) Pastor, to 20 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 13-year old class six pupil at Tamso a suburb of Tarkwa.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Jonathan Adotey told the court presided over by Mr John Ajet-Nasam that on February 26 this year, the accused took advantage of the absence of the victim’s parents and forcibly had sex with her and warned her not to disclosed her ordeal to anybody to preserve her life. The accused also asked the girl to implicate her father incase the act was detected.

Inspector Adotey said the victim later became sick and when she was rushed to the hospital it was detected that she had been defiled, leading to the arrest of the accused. In passing judgment, Mr Ajet-Nasam expressed concern about the increasing number of rape cases in the District and pledged to punish all offenders who appear before him.
