The Presiding Member of the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly, who also serves as the Assembly member for the Amasu Besease Electoral Area, Hon. Adama Yeboah, has indicated that significant measures and initiatives are being implemented as part of a strategic plan to enhance and optimize the processes involved in revenue collection within the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly.
The Presiding Member emphasized the necessity of equipping revenue collectors with the essential tools to enable them to perform their duties effectively. He highlighted that efforts are underway to repair all vehicles at the Assembly to facilitate the revenue collectors’ travel across the Municipality for the revenue collection exercise. Furthermore, he underscored the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening the activities of the zonal councils in order to educate the populace on the importance of paying taxes. He noted that the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly has initiated an awareness campaign regarding the necessity of paying property taxes, warning that individuals who fail to pay their taxes by the conclusion of the campaign period will face legal action.
In conclusion, he asserted that it is crucial for the community to understand the importance of tax payment. Therefore, the Assembly will ensure transparency in their Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to inform the public of the total tax revenue collected and the projects funded with these amounts, thereby fostering public confidence and encouraging tax compliance.
The Presiding Member expressed gratitude towards the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, Honorable John Kwame Adu Jack, for his collaborative efforts with the assembly. He noted that the MP places significant importance on the progress and development of Dormaa Central, which is evident in his consistent inclusion of assembly members in decision-making processes which allows for an assessment of the challenges faced by each electoral area and determines the type of assistance that can be provided to foster development.
He noted that this marks the first occasion in nearly 12 years that an MP in Dormaa Central has invited assembly members for discussions regarding the dissemination of projects. Such collaboration has resulted in the commencement of construction for health and educational facilities in three different communities within the Dormaa Central constituency.
