Means of reconnecting Africans in Diaspora welcomed

Accra, Dec. 13, GNA – Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, has observed that a convenient means by which Africans living in the Diaspora could re-connect to their motherland was more than one could ask for.
Speaking at a dinner in Accra, as part of activities to mark the inauguration of Delta Airline’s first non-stop service from Accra to New York, Mr Obetsebi Lamptey observe that Ghana had ties with the US, dating several years back.
He said there were several Ghanaians in the US, who wished for a convenient means of re-connection to their motherland, adding that Delta Airline was just the kind of means they needed.
Ms Pamela Bridgewater, US Ambassador to Ghana, in a message said the commencement of flight operations by Delta Airlines in Ghana, reflected the level of commercial relations between the two countries. She said the US, recognized Ghana as the gateway to Africa, adding that this would further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Delta would operate four flights a week direct from the United States.
