MD to contest Atiwa constituency by-election on the ticket of NDC

Kwabeng, July 27, GNA – Mr Foster Asante, a 40-year old Managing Director of VEF Marketing Services Limited, on Tuesday, declared his intention to contest the Atiwa constituency bye-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Asante, who picked his nomination forms on Saturday, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that, he was confident of winning the primaries and subsequently win the by-election.

He said the good works of the NDC one and NDC two would help him to win the seat for the party for the first time since 1996.

Mr Asante gave indications, that the NDC would annex the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to break their hold on the constituency.

“We shall pull a surprise in this by-election because we are preparing seriously,” he said.

Mr Asante holds a diploma in Information Management System from NCR Computer Science Institute- Ghana, Advanced Certificate in Marketing from Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and certificate in Conflict Management from GIJ.

He also holds a certificate in Administration and Management from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, (GIMPA).

Mr Asante promised that when given the opportunity, he would bring development to the area by ensuring that the people lived in good health and also that education was properly development.

The Atiwa seat became vacant due to the death of its Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Kwasi Annor Ankamah in London recently.

In the 2008 election, the NPP obtained 24,423 votes, the NDC had 7,851 and Peoples National Convention (PNC) polled 296 votes.
