MD granted bail for issuing bounced cheques.

Tema, Jan. 08, GNA — Divine Dzani, the Managing Director of D-Cube Limited who issued two dud cheques totalling 115 million cedis to a trader, has been granted 100 million cedis bail with a surety by the Tema circuit court ‘B’.

He pleaded not guilty and will reappear on January 20.

DSP Robert Aganiba, prosecuting, told the court that in November 2003, the complainant’s children shipped an Iveco truck and other goods through the Tema Harbour to her for sale.

She cleared the goods and sent the truck to a garage at motorway roundabout in Tema to be sold.

DSP Aganiba said in February 2004 the accused contacted the complainant and expressed his desire to buy the truck.

The truck was sent to his house and Dzani agreed to buy the truck for 140 million cedis.

On May 14, the accused issued a post-dated cheque for 50 million cedis but when it was presented at the bank on the due date, it was dishonoured.

On August 6 Dzani issued another cheque for 85 million cedis but it was dishonoured.
