MCEs and DCEs should stop meddling in chieftaincy matters – Nana Mbia

Nana Mbia I, Mponuahene of Kyebi Apapamu, in the Akim Abuakwa Traditional Area, has called on municipal and district chief executives to avoid involving themselves in chieftaincy matters.

He said as the constitution bars chiefs from involving themselves in politics, politicians should also desist from taking any interest in chieftaincy affairs.

Nana Mbia said this on Tuesday when some of the sub-chiefs from Akim Abuakwa Traditional Area met at Teacher-Mante to brainstorm on how best to develop their communities and to find ways of ensuring peace among themselves.

He said as traditional leaders, they have a way of settling chieftaincy disputes amicably among themselves without involving political leaders just as the politicians use the courts.

The Mponuahene appealed to the chiefs to end the constant backbiting and the spread of lies ostensibly to damage their colleagues, saying that, such behaviour do not bring peace but rather retard the development of the area.

Nana Mbia appealed to municipal and district chief executives to always cross-check any issues that are brought to them to ascertain the facts before taking any action so as to bring peace and tranquility among the people.**
