MCE vows to completing unfinished projects under the Ghana Secondary City support programme in the Municipality

The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, has expressed a resolute commitment to ensuring the completion of all ongoing and unfinished projects that fall under the Ghana Secondary City Support Programme (GSCSP) within the Dormaa Central Municipality.

During an interview on GIFTs FM Morning Show, hosted by Kwaku Mensah Abrampa, the Municipal Chief Executive highlighted that he inherited 56 lockable stores at 85% completion. He has successfully facilitated their completion, and these have been handed over to the assembly for use. He emphasized that components of the project, including mini stalls and a nursery block intended to accommodate the children of market women, have all been completed under his leadership. This demonstrates his dedication to completing all remaining projects within the GSCSP.

According to the Former Municipal Chief Executive, as part of the program, some inner roads were designated for construction to facilitate the movement of people. However, the contractor has left the site for some time, leaving the roads unattended.

Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw emphasized that he has made concerted efforts to engage with the contractor to resume construction. He stated that he requested the contractor to incorporate drainage into the project to ensure a durable road network. The contractor agreed to this request but demanded an increase in the contract sum, as the drainage system was not included in the original contract with the previous administration.

Hon. Dominic Adoma reiterated that the contractor has failed to return to the site to resume construction due to the unavailability of funds to pay the contractor, resulting in delays in the completion of the selected inner roads in Dormaa Central, which are part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP).

He promised to employ all available means to ensure the contractor returns to site as soon as possible or to legally terminate the contract and reassign it to a different contractor to ensure its timely completion.
