MCE urges staff of institutions to be innovative

Ho, Dec. 14, GNA – Mr. Mawutor Goh, Ho Municipal Chief Executive on Wednesday entreated staff of all decentralized institutions to be more innovative while, waiting for additional logistics. ” You must first use your human resource as initiators of change to merit other resources”, he said. Mr. Goh, who was speaking at the Volta Regional Annual Performance Review Workshop of the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) said it was necessary that workers justified the salary paid them. He said some workers were being lazy unduly, under the cover of lack of logistics, when they could still work judiciously with what was available at their offices.

Mr Goh therefore called on the staff of the DSW to work faithfully, knowing that the Department was the only support base for the vulnerable in the society. He pledged the support of the assembly to the activities of DSW with regards to the Children’s Act. Mr Larry Bissaba, Volta Regional Social Welfare Officer said it was refreshing to note that in the face of many challenges, the department had not performed badly. He said during the year under review, their activities had been able to reach a reasonable number of people who needed their services. Mr Bissaba said the regional department was still battling with its manual typewriters and without any official vehicle for monitoring. He therefore appealed for assistance from all stakeholders adding, “it had become imperative that the necessary logistics are provided for the implementers of law because as the society gets complex, problems multiply”. The DSW has under its three core programmes to serve the vulnerable, disadvantaged and excluded and the disabled.
