MCE inaugurates Sub-Metropolitan Councils

Sekondi, Aug. 10, GNA – Captain Anthony Cudjoe (rtd), Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), on Tuesday cautioned members of Sub-Metropolitan District Councils against using their positions to engage in partisan politics.

He gave the caution when inaugurating the Sekondi and the Essikadu-Ketan Sub-Metropolitan District Councils at Sekondi. He asked members of the councils engaging in politics to put a stop to it immediately and rather commit themselves to serving their areas and spearheading its development. “Put your political affiliations aside and dedicate yourselves to community service to raise the living standards of the people”, he told t= he members of the councils.

Captain Cudjoe said the members should refrain from articulating their political views on radio stations, as this could disunite the people they are serving and assured that the Metropolitan Assembly would assist them to deliver.

Mr Mohammed Ali, the Presiding Member of STMA, spoke of the important roles sub-structures of the assemblies play in the decentralization process= .. He said there was the need to strengthen the sub structures to accelerate the decentralization process. Mr Horatio Bruce and Mr Jim Armoo were unanimously elected Chairmen of the Essikado-Ketan and Sekondi Sub-Metropolitan District Councils respectively.
