MCE cautions against poor handling of electrical appliances

Nii Ephraim, Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, has cautioned people in the municipality against poor handling of electrical appliances in their homes and workplaces.

This he said would enable the inhabitants to avoid the fire outbreak that occurred in late 2013 and early this year.

In a statement issued in Winneba at the weekend, he said: “Fire is a good and reliable servant as far as human development is concerned, but can also easily turn out to be the most dangerous and destructive servant if carelessly and poorly handled.”

“It is therefore the cardinal responsibility of all and sundry to ensure prudent use of fire in our day-to-day activities.”

Nii Ephraim asked people to switch off their electrical appliances at home or work places when they are not in use.

He praised the management of Radio Peace, a community radio station in Winneba and officers of the Effutu Municipal Office of the Ghana National Fire Service for the introduction of special weekly programme to educate listeners on the dangers of domestic and bushfires
