MCA Secretariat collects data

Akim Osino (E/R), July 9, GNA – Field officers from the Millennium Challenged Account Secretariat, have started collecting data from persons living in the beneficiary communities to know the level of poverty in those districts and how to disburse the allocations for the districts.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Akim Osino in the Fanteakwa District, Mr Max Acquah, a member of the field workers said government had decided to collect data aimed at knowing the lifestyles of its people to formulate a strategy of disbursing the amount. Mr Acquah said 27 communities in the Fanteakwa District would primarily enjoy the benefit and announced that the fund would cover construction of roads, schools, hospitals, energy generation and support for co-operative groups to undertake farming.

He said both governmental and private sector agencies would benefit from the scheme and explained that the project was aimed at raising the living standard of the people of the beneficiary districts.

The Field Supervisor of the Fanteakwa District, Mr Brefo Darkwa confirmed the story and said all enumerated areas would be visited to ensure that all citizens were covered to reflect their true lifestyles. Mr Brefo said at the moment no problem had been encountered and appealed to people in the District to co-operate with the field workers to ensure the success of the programme.
