May Day: Storm scuttles celebration in Volta region

A rain storm has disrupted the Volta regional May Day celebration in Keta.

The rain sets in, moments after the various labour groups ended a march past at the Keta SHS park.

The situation brought the event to an abrupt end, with the expected speeches by the TUC Regional Secretary and the Volta regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, left undelivered.

Workers at the park were seen running for cover as the storm ripped some of the canopies under which they were sitting, Starr News’ Volta regional correspondent, Lambert Atsivor reported.

In a related development, he added that the ceremony scheduled to start at 9am delayed for two hours due to late arrivals of some of the labour groups from other parts of the region and the brass band group, engaged for the parade.
