Mawuko School celebrates 20th anniversary

Ho, Nov 10, GNA- The Right Reverend Dr Livingston Buama, the Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, said the education of girls should not be an issue for debate because the benefits are self-evident.

He was speaking at the launch of the 20th Anniversary celebration of Mawuko Girls Secondary School in Ho on Monday. The celebration has the theme, “Transforming society through quality education for the girl-child”.

He said while the focus on girls’ education is justifiable for good reasons the fact remains that equal opportunities are required for the talents and potentials of both girls and boys to be tapped for national development.

Rt. Rev. Buama urged students of the School not to be daunted by the inadequacies, of facilities available for academic work.

Miss Rosemond Keteku, Headmistress of the School, recounted the humble beginnings of the School in October 1983 from the vision of a former Moderator of the E.P. Church, the Very Reverend Professor Noah Dzobo.

”He had a vision of creating a special place, a reserved seat for girls education at Ho at a cost of 10 million cedis through fund raising.” 10 Nov 03
