Maulvi calls for unity, discipline

Accra, Sept 21, GNA – Maulvi Wahab Adam, Ameer (Head) and Missionary in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, on Monday underscored the need for unity and discipline among societies. He said unity and discipline were essential prerequisites for national cohesion and development.

Delivering a sermon during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Conference Centre at Ashongman in Accra, Maulvi Adam said all must eschew their religious or ethnic diversity and political differences to ensure the building of a just, humane and caring posterity for the nation. “Having successfully gone through presidential and parliamentary elections that have won the country international approbation and goodwill, all of us have a duty to ensure that the country stays together in unity and not allow our religious and ethnic diversity or political differences to divide us and weaken our resolve to build for ourselves and posterity a just, humane, caring and great nation,” he said.

Maulvi Adam said in all matters, parties should resort to dialogue rather than violence to resolve differences adding “that is the only guarantee for our survival as a people”. He called on all to hold fast to time-tested procedures and institutions, and allow them to work independently to ensure progress. Maulvi Wahab prayed for unity, peace, progress and prosperity for the nation. Eid-ul-Fitr celebration marks the end of 30 days of fasting by Muslims. 21 Sept. 09
