Mauluvi Adam prays for unity, peace and prosperity in Ghana

Maulvi Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary-In-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, on Sunday led the congregation in prayer for the unity, peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

He said fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and that the 30 days of fasting was meant to stimulate man’s spirituality, which was often completely neglected and sacrificed on the altar of materialism.

Maulvi Adam was delivering the Eid-ul-Fitr sermon at the Ahmadis prayer ground at Bustan-e-Ahmad in Accra.

He observed that religion should be a powerful tool for the fostering of unity, tolerance, mutual respect, cooperation and understanding as well as peaceful co-existence between religious bodies and sectors of society.

Maulvi Adam stressed that, the sacred month of Ramadan should remind all Muslims that man was not made of flesh, bones and blood alone, but also the spirit of Allah which “he breathed into all human beings.”

He said the respect that man have for God’s spirit in him, requires that he should shun foul deeds and profane language, adding, “The use of intemperate and profane language has now become the norm in our political discourse. The behavior is neither religiously approved nor traditionally acceptable.”

Maulvi Adam commended all Ghanaians for their unity and decorum “during the calamity that befell the nation”, and used the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr to appeal to Ghanaians to continue on the path of unity, cooperation and peace, despite their religious, political and ethnic diversity to ensure successful elections this year.
