Mathew Chapter 25 organizes party for PLWH, others

Koforidua, Dec 25, GNA – Mathew Chapter 25, a Catholic non- governmental organization (NGO), supporting people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH) in the Koforidua area, on Christmas day feted more than 1,000 people. They included PLWH, patients at the Koforidua Regional Hospital and the St Joseph Orthopedic Centre, inmates at the Koforidua Central Police Station cells, Police personnel and staff of the two health facilities. Rev. Monsignor Fr Bobby Benson, Director of the NGO, told GNA that the programme was initially instituted four years ago for PLWH but other needy people were included later.

He called on Christians to show love and care for the needy and vulnerable during Christmas because the celebration was about giving, sharing and extending a hand to the less privileged in society. Rev. Benson advised Ghanaians to avoid stigmatizing and discriminating against PLWH and appealed to families of such people to accept them back home.

He said the NGO was currently caring for 90 PLWH and 98 orphans and called on individuals, organizations and government to support it.
