Begoro, Oct.16, GNA – A Begoro District court has sentenced Opata Ossom 20, a mason from Ehiamenkyene on his own plea to six months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing some items from a chapel. The items were five plastic chairs, curtains, lace materials and decorative flowers.
Owusu Nyame Asem, 35, a farmer was fined 240 Ghana cedis on his own plea for dishonestly receiving.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Jonathan Amo, told the court presided over by Mr Owusu Nsiah that on September 23 this year, Pastor Prosper Ken Mausorley of Ehiamenkyene Christian Outreach Mission detected that some thieves had broken into the chapel and the items stolen. He said a week after the theft, a member of the church saw Ossom selling two plastic chairs and informed Pastor Mausorley who reported the matter to the Begoro Police and the accused was arrested. The prosecution said during interrogation Ossom mentioned Asem as the person who bought three of the plastic chairs and after investigations they were charged with the offences.
