Kofi Amoah, a mason who forcibly had sex with a 12-year-old pupil in a nearby bush has been jailed 12 years with hard labour by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court. Amoah pleaded guilty to defilement.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang told the presiding judge, Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that the victim, a class four pupil, lives with her grandmother at Akim Asuboa, as well as the convict.
The prosecutor said on April 1, 2013 at about 1930 hours the victim was sent to buy medicine from a drug store and on her return met the convict who lured her into a nearby bush and forcibly had sex with her and gave her GHS1.00, and warned her not to tell anyone.
The Chief Inspector said when the grandmother waited for a while she went out in search of the victim and met her at a school compound with her pants in her hands and when she was questioned, she told the grandmother of her ordeal.
The grandmother then lodged a complaint with the Police and Amoah was arrested after a medical examination on the victim.
