Mason gets 24 months prison sentence for stealing

New Edubiase (Ash), April 13, GNA- The New Edubiase magistrate court on Thursday sentenced a mason to 24 months imprisonment for stealing and misconduct. Kwabena Anokye pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel Boateng told the court that sometime in February this year, a friend of one Kwasi Williams gave some items comprising pieces of wax prints and cash of 100,000 cedis to a driver from Accra to be given to the said Kwasi Williams at New Edubiase.

He said when the driver, Kwaku Antwi got to New Edubiase, he could not find Williams so he gave the items and the money to the accused to be given to Williams.

Chief Inspector Boateng said, however, that the accused refused to give the items and the cash to Williams and instead sold them and spent the money.

He said on April 5, this year, Williams confronted the driver who said he gave the items and the cash to Anokye to be given to him and based on this he caused the arrest of Anokye.

The prosecutor said on April 8, when the accused was being taken out of police cell to be sent to court, he picked a chamber pot containing human excreta at the cell and poured it on the driver.
