Mason fined for causing harm

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court has ordered Acquah Kwame, a mason, to pay GH? 800.00 for slapping a hairdresser or in default serve six months jail term.

Mr Emmanuel Brew, the presiding judge, imposed a fine of GH? 600.00 on the mason and ordered him to pay additional GH? 200.00 to compensate Miss Faustina Adwoa, the complainant.

Kwame pleaded guilty for causing harm.

The prosecution told the court that the hairdresser and the mason live at Akim Asuboa in the Eastern Region where a misunderstanding ensued between them.

Kwame threatened to beat the hairdresser up and laid ambush near the complainant’s house, and when Miss Adwoa approached, he pulled her hair and gave her three slaps on the left cheek.

The prosecution said three days later, the complainant detected that fluid was oozing from her ear and therefore, made a complaint to the police, where she was issued a police medical report form to attend hospital, whilst Kwame was arrested.
