Mason defraud classmate of 450,000 cedis

Cape Coast June 3 GNA- Michael Twum, a 34 year-old Mason from Cape Coast was on Thursday granted one million cedis bail with surety by a Cape Coast circuit court for defrauding one Mr Kofi Mensah of 450,000 cedis. Twum who pleaded not guilty would reappear on Thursday June 24. Police Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court that on April 9, 2004, Twum met Mensah, his former classmate at the Kotokuraba and told him that he was now a student at the University of Cape Coast. He said Mensah then told Twum that he was unemployed and that he was looking for a job.

Inspector Azasoo said, when Mensah told him of his problem, Twum said he could secure him a job at the Ghana Telecom (GT) and that he needed about 450,000 cedis to enable him work out the employment for him.

He said Mensah gave him the money but Twum failed to secure him the job and all efforts to get back his money proved futile. GNA JP/CAS 3 June 04
