Mason, 32 defiles girl, 15

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court on Monday granted bail to a mason for allegedly defiling a 15 year old girl.

Yaw Bimpong, 32, pleaded not guilty to defilement of a female child under 16 years of age and was granted bail to the sum of GHc5,000 with one surety. He would reappear on June 6, 2013.

Giving details of the case in the court presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong, Police Inspector Fabian Sallah said Nana Ama, a trader and also the complainant, lives at Akim Oda with the victim, who is her sister.

Inspector Sallah said on March 25, this year the victim was sent to buy plantain, and on her return, the complainant rejected the item and asked the victim to return them.

He said the 15-year-old girl failed to return home and slept in an uncompleted building.

The prosecutor said on March 27, and 28, this year, Bimpong, who was in charge of the building saw the victim there and forcibly had sex with her for the two days.

The complainant later had information on the whereabouts of the victim, went for her, and took her to the Police Station. He said when the victim was interrogated she confessed that Bimpong had sex with her on two occasions.

The accused was subsequently arrested.
